Shoreditch is about to get a serious dose of Tokyo energy. Mitsu, a vibrant new Japanese restaurant and bar, is set to open its doors on 9 April 2026 at 10-50 Willow Street (EC2A 4BH), taking over the former Nobu Shoreditch site inside the Aethos London hotel.

Mitsu captures the spirited, social soul of East Tokyo’s classic izakayas — those lively after-work spots where friends gather for shareable plates, robata grilling, cold beers, and highballs that stretch late into the night. But instead of a straight import, it fuses that authentic Japanese spirit with Shoreditch’s creative, edgy London energy. Expect bold flavours, buzzing tables, powerful music, and a space that shifts seamlessly from relaxed daytime dining to high-octane evenings with live DJ sets.

The menu centres around the robata grill, delivering smoky, perfectly charred skewers and modern Japanese dishes designed for sharing. Think elevated izakaya classics with a contemporary twist — from fresh temaki and sashimi to hearty robata meats and inventive small plates. Knockout cocktails and a carefully curated drinks list (including Japanese whisky and sake highballs) will keep the energy flowing, while the design by Astet Studio blends traditional Japanese woodcraft, warm textures, and dramatic red lighting with Shoreditch’s eclectic edge. A standout feature is the outdoor terrace, complete with DJ decks, turning it into an extension of the party when the weather allows.

Mitsu is part of the Aethos London Shoreditch and is co-founded by Steven Bonnington, who also serves as General Manager.
